Artist Increasingly Hired To Paint Live Scenes At Wedding Receptions

The work of Keith “Von” Hasenbalg offered a pleasant distraction for guests in the buffet line at a recent wedding reception.

And they were essentially watching paint dry.

From behind his easel, the “live event artist” captured a single scene — the cake cutting — in acrylic hues.

“Originally, I thought, ‘Why would people want to watch this?’ ” said Hasenbalg, a Northwest Side resident.
